Progress Report: The About, iRant, and The List pages

This will probably be the last progress report I give for a while.

Why, you ask?

Because the site is pretty much complete.

The layout is finished. The List has been rebuilt. The old iRants and interviews have been republished. And now, the three most important pages on the site- About, iRant, and The List- have been completed.

I won’t lie, we used ChatGPT to draft these pages. We fed it all the relevant information, then took the drafts it gave us and edited them to give them some humanity (and to remove those damn em dashes that it always uses). It cut the workload in half. Most of you probably wouldn’t even know that ChatGPT was involved if I hadn’t just told you.

ChatGPT gets a lot of hate, but I think it’s a useful tool so long as you’re not just blindly copying and pasting what it gives you. I see nothing wrong with using AI-generated text sometimes if it’s readable and gets the point across. I wonder what our sites would have been like if we had ChatGPT 15 years ago. Never mind the crazy layouts we’d have made, imagine all the crazy shit we would have “written”. That thing would have been abused like a redheaded stepchild.

Do people even still say “redheaded stepchild” anymore? I don’t know.

I DO know, however, that Rantlister is officially ready for prime time.

The About page is pretty self-explanatory. It explains what rant sites were (just in case anyone under 25 finds this site), the origins of Rantlister, and what we’re doing now.

As mentioned before, readers can submit their own rants under iRant. The iRant page includes instructions for getting your rants published right here on Rantlister. We eagerly look forward to sifting through your half-cocked garbage that you call “writing” reading your high quality submissions!

The “The List” page gives a more detailed history of Rantlister’s origins, like how The List came to be, how it evolved into Rantlister, and how we’ve created an archive of those old sites.

Like I said before, we have some ideas for content. I was going to make a post sharing some of these ideas, but honestly me talking about plans instead of actually executing them is what killed the site the last time (and why we’re Rantlister.NET instead of Rantlister.COM now). Don’t say it, just do it. All I’ll say is, just wait and see what we’ve got. I think it’s gonna be pretty damn good.

There’s still a couple of odds and ends that need tightened up, but most of that is on the back end. As far as you, the reader, is concerned, the site is live and fully operational.

New content will be coming shortly.

In the meantime, for anyone who wants to get involved with the site, email us at [email protected].
