No WP Post Author, I won’t leave feedback for your plug-in, now fuck off

I fucking hate when apps beg me for feedback.

During our recent redesign of AJnet Magazine, I needed a plug-in that displays the author’s image and bio after each post. For whatever reason, the free version of GeneratePress doesn’t do this by default.

ChatGPT recommended a plug-in called “WP Post Author”. I gave it a once-over and it seemed like it did exactly what I needed it to do. So I installed and configured it, and went about working on other parts of the site.

Two days later, I open my WordPress dashboard, and spot a notification at the top of the page asking for my feedback (which has mysteriously stopped appearing since I started writing this article, because life is a bitch like that).

I’ve only had this plug-in for two days, fuck off.

A minor nuisance at best though. I closed the notification and got back to business.

Three days later, I log in to the dashboard, only to be greeted by the same damn notification begging me for a review. What the fuck?

Twice in a week is annoying, but whatever. Again I closed the notification and moved on.

Another couple of days later, I log in to the dashboard. Son of a fucking bitch, it’s that goddamn WP Post Author begging for a review for the third time in less than two weeks.

It hasn’t stopped. It never stops. Every two or three days like clockwork this fucking plug-in throws me a notification on my WordPress dashboard asking me to leave my feedback.

You want my feedback, WP Post Author? Congratulations, you’ve got it:

Here’s your feedback, you annoying fucks.

The real kicker is that I still got the notification asking me to review the plug-in the day after I left my review.

I absolutely hate being asked to give feedback on stuff. Everywhere you go, everything you do, you get inundated with requests for feedback. I already did an article about this on AJnet a while back, so I won’t repeat myself here. It’s annoying as hell though, and hounding me about it every three days is beyond bullshit.

I’m not sure who at WP Post Author’s dev team thought this was a good idea, but it’s definitely not. I’m also not the only one to complain to them about it. This random Indian kid from three years ago also shared my complaint:

Shame on you indeed, WP Post Author.

This dude’s post is great. He’s basically comparing the plug-in to a beggar on the street.

But even three years ago they were still doing this crap. Imagine using this plug-in for three years and having to dismiss this annoying shit every few days. Every three days for three years is around 365 times. Someone who used this plug-in for three years would have dismissed the notification 365 times. Holy shit. Shame on you indeed, WP Post Author devs.

In case you were wondering, this is what the devs had to say for themselves:

Ask me how I know that they didn’t actually read the guy’s post…

Anyway, I’m going to eventually have to find an alternative for WP Post Author. There’s nothing wrong with the plug-in itself, but I’m not going to be repeatedly nagged to leave a review every couple of days. Especially after I already left one.

If the WP Post Author devs are reading this, you need to get rid of this nag notification, or at least reduce its frequency. Either that or fuck off.
