Weekly updates are back!
Well, kind of.
Whether you’ve found us because you remember us from way back when, or you’re someone new who’s just now discovered Rantlister (it’s cool, we’ve all gotta start somewhere), here’s a quick Rantlister history lesson.
Back in the day, Rantlister’s most prominent feature, besides The List, was the weekly updates. Every week, a Rantlister staff member would go through each of the sites on The List and see if any new articles were posted. If they were, those articles were included in a post on Rantlister’s front page. Updates were usually posted to Rantlister either once or twice a week, depending on how much new content there was or how lazy staff was feeling that week. Typically it was me posting the updates, but updates were also posted by other staff, like Bagoda, Bob Smash, SuperPope, and FuckedYouFucker.
Since all of the sites on The List are dead, obviously we’re not going to be posting any new articles from anyone. But since this site is an archive, there’s something else we can do.
Once every two weeks, we’ll go through The List, pick out a handful of old articles, and share the archived links to them here. This way, not only are we keeping the tradition of the weekly update alive, but we’re also exposing the old articles to people who may otherwise have not found them. We’re basically drudging through the Internet Archive for you lazy bastards and telling you what to read.
Rather than select articles at complete random, we decided it might be a better idea to pick a theme for each update. One week’s update theme might be “Music”, so all articles shared will be about music. Another week’s update theme could be “Movies”, and all articles shared would be about movies. You get the idea. And if you don’t, well, that’s okay, because you’re still special.
This update’s theme will be “War”. With all the shit going on in Iran right now, I figure it’s appropriate. Especially since a lot of this old content was written while America was balls deep in the Middle East.
Here are some old articles centered around war and military conflicts. As they say, “War never changes”.
